Franklin County schools recorded higher college readiness rate for students in 2023-24 school year

Franklin County had 71 students ready for college in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Alabama Department of Education. This represents 80.7% of the 88 pupils in that year’s graduating cohort.

College readiness in the county increased compared to the previous school year, when 51 students were considered prepared for college.

College readiness in the district varied based on students’ ethnicity. 79.5% of white students were considered ready for college in the 2023-24 school year. These rankings may not reflect absolute accuracy, as data for small student groups may have been suppressed to protect student privacy.

A recent study by WalletHub classified Alabama as one of the least-educated states in the U.S., ranking it the 8th worst in America in terms of class size, student performance, funding, safety, and instructor credentials.
