City of Sumiton recently issued the following announcement.
Mayor Petey Ellis announced that the city decided to cancel the Frog Festival for this year (2020).
“There are a number of things that bring this into play,” he said. If you get started taking money for booth rental, and the festival is canceled due to the COVID-19 situation, then it creates more work, according to Ellis.
The city is in the process of several renovations in the downtown area.
The sidewalk project is progressing along Main Street, and it will be a few months before that work is completed, according to Ellis. “We’re building a new stage area, and getting the Main Street area paved so we can come back next year with a bigger and better event,” he said.
