Cost of college went up for all students at Bevill State Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 6.7 percent for 2018-19 at Bevill State Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Alabama residents paid $5,086 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $320 more than the $4,766 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 81.2 percent more than residents this year, or $9,214. Their price tag grew 7.5 percent from $8,574 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Alabama residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 521 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3 million and 18 students took out student loans totaling more than $105,269.

Including all undergraduates (3,745), 2,856 students used grants or scholarships totaling $12.4 million.
