Alabama will hold its 17th annual Back-To-School Sales Tax Holiday which begins at 12:01 a.m. on the third Friday in July (July 15th) and ends at 12:00 midnight on the following Sunday (July 17th), pursuant to §40-23-210 to §40-23-213, Code of Alabama 1975, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers and clothing free of state sales tax. The City Council voted and approved Montevallo Ordinance No. 06142021-322 an ordinance of the City of Montevallo, Alabama, to exempt certain “covered items” from the Municipal Sales and Use Tax, as authorized by act 2017-120, generally referred to as the State Sales Tax Holiday Legislation.
