Ballantrae Golf Club Named one of Alabama's Top 10

Pelham’s own Ballantrae Golf Club was recently recognized as one of the ten best public golf courses in Alabama by AmericanTowns. The media group, which publishes Best of AmericanTowns, spotlights the best places to eat, live and visit across the United States.

In the AmericanTown article that revealed the “Ten Best Public Golf Courses in Alabama”, Ballantrae Golf Club is described as “one of the most unique golf courses” in the state, with a nod to the highlands-inspired design. It pointed out the club’s seclusion as a major attraction for golfers, and stated, “…you’ll feel miles away from the bustle of daily life.” The Fireside Grill also received props for its “full bar and reasonably-priced fare.”

Ballantrae Golf Club General Manager Hal Brown received the news in early October and was thrilled with the designation. “It’s a great way of spreading the word to those in the state who are looking for golf courses to play as they travel,” said Brown.  It is the first time Ballantrae has been recognized by AmericanTowns.

Ballantrae Golf Club set a record last year for the number of rounds of golf played on the course. The 41,451 rounds played in 2021 represent an almost 50-percent increase over the 28,000 rounds played in 2004 when the course opened. Brown credits several factors that contributed to the record year. “The golf course conditions that are provided by our maintenance staff are second to none. We also focus on going above and beyond with customer service from our operations staff.”

The 18-hole course is located about six miles east of I-65, exit 242.  Book your tee time, and view course information on the Ballantrae Golf Club website, or call (205) 620-4653.
