Christmas tree disposal | City of Pelham

As you take down the Christmas decorations, the City of Pelham wants to remind you of two convenient ways to dispose of your live Christmas tree.

1. You can call or complete an online request for bulk pickup with Amwaste and your live tree will be collected curbside. These trees will be taken to the landfill. You'll find the Request Tracker on the City of Pelham website. Click "Report a Concern", and then under the "Amwaste Garbage and Recycle" header, click "Schedule Bulk Trash Pickup", and then fill out and submit the form. You can also simply call Amwaste at 205-788-1400 to make your request.

2. If you wish to recycle, Shelby County, the City of Pelham, and other local municipalities are offering a Christmas tree recycling program. Pelham residents can drop off live Christmas trees from December 27, 2022, through January 6, 2023, at Pelham City Park.     The drop-off area is in the parking lot adjacent to the depot (across from Pelham Park Middle School), and the site is designated with green traffic cones and signage. The area will be monitored daily.     Shelby County will recycle the Christmas trees into landscape and erosion/sediment control materials for county facilities. County leaders hope to decrease the volume of illegal dumping that occurs each year.     The temporary drop-off location is for live Christmas trees only. No yard debris, please.

Other drop-off locations within Shelby County include:

Heardmont Park on Cahaba Valley Road/AL-119

CR-47 in Chelsea (gravel lot at intersection with Liberty Road)

Ray Building on AL-70 in Columbiana

Propst Promenade Alabaster located at the end of AmStar Theatre parking lot

Pelham City Park on US-31 in Pelham
