How many businesses registered across cities in Marion County during February?

There were 12 businesses that registered in cities within Marion County during February, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 71 percent more than the month before, when seven businesses were registered.

Hamilton registered the most businesses in Marion County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
